According to China’s customs authorities, a man was apprehended at a border trying to smuggle 104 live snakes under his pants.
Customs Officials stated in a statement on Tuesday that the reptile trafficker attempted to evade inspection at a port between Hong Kong and Shenzhen by using a “no declaration channel.”
Six sealed bags holding sundry exotic snakes, including milk snakes, western hognose snakes, corn snakes, Texas rat snakes, and bullsnakes, were found by the officers when they searched his pants.
Even though none of the snakes were poisonous, at least four of the reptiles are thought to be alien to China, which may be against the country’s biosafety regulations.
Without giving a specific penalty, the customs office stated that it will hold the man legally liable in line with the law.
