Ogudu Police Station Rape: Police Authorities Detain Alleged Police Officer

The Lagos State Police Command said it has apprehended the officer who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl at the Ogudu Police Station.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the command, refuted claims made by some media that the police were providing cover for the alleged rapist.

The cop in question, according to Hundeyin, fled the scene of the incident but turned himself in on Saturday to be questioned.

The public was reassured by Hundeyin that the issue was not being ignored, and added that the state’s commissioner of police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, had given the command’s Gender Unit the order to look into the case right away.

“The case is under full investigation. There is no plan to cover up the allegation,” he said.

Daddu247 had reported on Saturday that the 17 year -old teenager was promised by the police officer to help her recover her stolen phone, however, at gun point, he locked her up in his office and raped her.
