The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, in the National Assembly Ifeanyi Ubah is dead.
Ubah, 52, is said to have passed away in the United Kingdom, UK on Saturday. Since the general elections of 2023, he was the sixth member of the federal legislature to pass away. Hon. Ekene Adams representing Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency from Kaduna State died less than weeks ago.
It was learned that he had been to the UK a few weeks prior for medical care, but that his condition had gotten worse.
No reason has been given behind his death.
Under the Young Progressive Party’s (YPP) platform, Ubah was elected to the Senate in 2019 and again in 2023. However, he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this year with the intention of running in the 2025 offcycle election for governor of Anambra State.
Ubah was attacked by gunmen in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State, in September 2022 while traveling to Nnewi. His convoy was fired at, resulting in the deaths of at least five people, including two police officers. According to reports, Ubah was protected from the attack by the bulletproof car he was traveling in.
