Three Japanese grandpas who met in prison and decided to team up after their release to commit crimes have been napped by the Japanese police.
The three men are advanced in age are accused of breaking into homes. Hideo Umino, 88, Hidemi Matsuda, 70 and Kenichi Watanabe, 69. And as such, these old threesome in Japan are known as the “grandpa gang.”
According to report published in The South China Morning Post, the three elderly men, with a total of 227 years, have emerged as the improbable face of crime in Japan.
The Police have dubbed this group, the “G3S” – a frisky on Japanese word for “grandpas”. They are suspected of committing several break-ins on the northern island of Hokkaido.
The Trio allegedly founded their illegal business while incarcerated and are targeting mostly unoccupied homes.
The trio allegedly broke into an abandoned residence in Hokkaido’s capital, Sapporo, in May. Their booty was meager despite their bold attempt: three bottles of alcohol worth at a total of 10,000 yen (US$65) and 200 yen (US$1.3) in cash.
Unfazed, the three are thought to have struck once more the following month, stealing 24 pieces of jewelry valued at an incredible one million yen (US$6,400) from a different abandoned house nearby.
The geriatric gang swiftly gained notoriety as their purported misdeeds spread, drawing attention to themselves with their peculiar profile.
